It already begins with an exclusive novelty: For the first time, the BIKE Transalp will start in East Tyrol and spend a whole day between Lienz and Sillian, where downhill fans can look forward to the new downhill classics in the form of the Peter Sagan Trail and Alban Lakata Trail. A little later, panorama connoisseurs will get their money's worth on the high terrain between Fronstadlalm and Tessenberger Alm - here an unobstructed view of Gailtal and Pustertal, the Lienz and Sesto Dolomites reveals itself.
Never been a stage location before: Bruneck. Here you can finally head for the legendary Kronplatz, which has been visited by many bikers, but never by the Transalp.
St. Vigil is also not new in the BIKE Transalp history, but the place was always approached from the Eisacktal. This will change in 2022: This time the route will goes from San Vigilio - after the grueling climb up to the Würzjoch - down into the Valle Isarco.
Kaltern and San Martino di Castrozza are also not newcomers to the history of the Transalp. But the two places connected to one stage: That has never happened before. And the extreme difference in level should also be unheard-of: From the lush green of the vines in the vineyards and the lovely apple orchards on the beach of Lake Kaltern, it's a quick ride into the rugged mountain world of the Dolomites, surrounded by the gray rock of the high mountains.
The stage from Martino di Castrozza to Lavarone finally turns its back on the impressive Dolomite mountains. However, this is followed by a no less impressive section with magnificent trails, such as the descent from Passo Brocon to Castello Tesino, one of the most beautiful downhills of the Transalp 2022.
On last day, the panoramic military roads from Carbonare to Serrada and the following enjoyable descent from Serrada down into the Adige Valley set the mood for the finish in Riva del Garda.
It will be hard to find an equivalent for the BIKE Transalp 2022. There is much that is new and unpredictable. And no stage is like the other. They are not even similar. This Transalp is not stereotypical, it does not use any role clichés. The 2022 route offers something for everyone: For adrenaline-addicted trail fans and persevering climbers, for kilometer collectors and panorama enjoyers, for ambition-driven and fun-seekers. It combines distance, altitude, adrenaline. And thus ensures an unforgettable experience for every type of rider.
